FANTASY #Review: LEGEND OF THE SPIDER PRINCE: REBEL by Margo Ander

5 of 5 stars

I love to sink my teeth into a good fantasy and LEGEND OF THE SPIDER PRINCE: REBEL delivers that and more. The story follows a teenage boy, Wyl, as he fights with the rebel army. He has sworn to protect the outlawed rebel leader, Helgurdda, but when the army suffers a devastating defeat, he finds himself seeking sanctuary in a distant land of Dremn along with Helgurdda and her right hand man, Eirgei, the infamous Wolf of Milkdales. As Wyl tries to understand the political intrigue in the Dremn royal court, he soon learns that not everything can be settled with a sharp blade.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the author does a fantastic job in letting us into Wyl's inner thoughts. How he thinks, why he does what he does and how he handles disappointment after disappointment. There were a few spots that I thought there was too much repetition about this and it slowed the plot down a bit. It was also hard to understand the words the author used to describe certain things, but once I got into the story I was able to figure out what meant what. That's my only criticism of this epic fantasy. It is full of action, challenges, assassins (who doesn't love a cool assassin?) and political intrigue. I'm anxiously waiting for book 2 to find out what happens next. Readers of epic fantasy will enjoy this book. Highly Recommended.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
