Interview with Mary Ting, GENES

What kinds of marketing [twitter, facebook, blog, forums] are you involved with for promoting your book(s)?

I’m mostly use Facebook because that is where I met my fans first. I also use Instagram and twitter, though I prefer Instagram. I like looking at pretty photos with books.

Do you find it difficult to juggle your time between marketing your current book and writing your next book?

Definitely, but my publisher does an amazing job at marketing so I don’t have to do as much if I were to publish on my own. I believe authors have a responsibility to reach out to fans. They like hearing from us.

What advice would you give a new author just entering into the self-publishing arena?

Make sure to have a great cover and edit your work. Make sure you know what genre you are focusing on. Give away ARCs and also do giveaways. This is one way to get out there.

Besides writing, do you have any other passions?

I enjoy watching movie or binge watching on Neflix, Amazon, Hulu, and others.

Some fun facts about you, which do you prefer – dogs or cats? Chocolate or vanilla? Coffee or Tea? Talk or Text? Day or Night?

Dogs. Chocolate. Tea. Talk. Night

What’s next for you?

I have a clean, sweet, contemporary romance book coming out this year, November 10th with Rosewind Books, called When the Wind Chimes. Below is the blurb.

SOMETIMES ANGELS COME IN HUMAN FORM.

Kaitlyn Summers is heartbroken.

When she receives an invitation to spend Christmas with her family on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, she feels it may be the perfect medicine.

She throws herself into helping her sister’s struggling art gallery, even taking a temporary job for extra money by looking after a little girl from her nephew’s school. She also begins to paint again, something she’s been unable to do since her breakup. It’s tempting to stay on Kauai, but she has obligations back in Los Angeles.

Life gets more complicated when circumstances keep putting her close to Leonardo Medici. Not only is he drop-dead gorgeous, he’s a local celebrity. But Kaitlyn can’t shake the feeling he’s hiding something.

Should she believe the rumors that he’s romancing half the island’s single women?

Or is the random sound of wind chimes when he’s close-by a sign that an angel is near and the secret to her happily ever after?
