#Review: THE PRINCESS AND THE ROGUE by Kate Bateman

  4 of 5 stars

Sebastien Wolff, Earl of Mowbray, stumbles upon Anya in a brothel of all places. When he attempts to engage her services, Anya tells him she's not a worker there. What she didn't tell him was that she was the Russian princess Anastasia who went missing a year ago in Paris. When Seb foils a kidnapping attempt of Anya, he agrees to protect her at his Tricorn gambling establishment. Anya feels the undeniable attraction between the two of them, but refuses to tell him who she really is. When he eventually discovers her identify, he feels betrayed by her secrets. Can they finally get beyond the betrayal and confess their love for each other?

This is the 3rd book in the Bow Street Bachelors and I was looking forward to reading Seb's story. I loved Seb. He was so loyal and competent although his constant scowling got a little old. As far as Anya is concerned, I had mixed feelings about her. She is supposed to be a smart young woman and yet she runs away from Paris with only her maid and a few jewels. Being a princess why wasn't there guards or advisors or anyone who could protect her from Petrov? That was a big plot hole for me that there wasn't anyone she could turn to for help. I absolutely loved the dowager. She was a hoot!

I voluntarily read the advanced reader copy and all opinions are my own.
