Interview with DB Henson

Available at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Deed-To-Death-ebook/dp/B003J35IUW

Welcome DB!

Briefly describe your journey in writing your first book.
Deed To Death started with a basic plot idea.  I was walking around a construction site one day and thought "this would be a great place to stage a murder".  Then the main character, Toni, started to form in my mind.  I pretty much had the whole story worked out in my head before ever putting the first word on paper.

Did you query agents or traditional publishers before publishing on Amazon?
No.  Although I did have a list of agents ready to query.

What factors influenced your decision to self-publish?
When I was doing the final rewrites for Deed To Death, I read a blog post by author J.A. Konrath regarding his success publishing on Kindle.  I decided to go the same route with my first novel.  I figured that if my book sold well, it would help me to land a top agent for the second novel.

Will you try to garner a traditional publishing contract for any future books?
I haven't decided yet.

Did you design your cover art?  If not, would you care to share your graphic designer’s information?
Yes.  I put the cover together using photoshop.

How did you feel when you got your first sale? Are you pleased with sales so far?
I was elated by my first sale.  It came very quickly.  Before the product description was posted on Amazon.  I'm actually amazed by how well Deed To Death has done.  The sales have definitely exceeded my expectations.

What kinds of social media [twitter, facebook, webpage, blog, writing forums] are you involved with trying to garner attention for your book(s)?
I've just joined Goodreads, and I have a blog.  I still don't have my facebook page up yet.

Besides Amazon, are there any other sites where your books are for sale?
Yes, Smashwords.

What’s next for you?
I'm currently writing the first novel in a mystery series.
