Can you give us a brief overview of your latest book? Is it part of a
series?
UNDENIABLE is the story of Rafe
Brooks. He’s just graduated from high school, and he’s trying to recover from a
broken heart. He goes a little nuts, running from the pain, until he meets
Joss, who gives him the chance to use his abilities—Rafe can manipulate minds—for
the greater good. He goes to work for an organization that links those who have
extraordinary powers with clients who need them. Things become a little
intense, though, when Rafe and Joss go undercover with a group that’s planning
to incite nationwide anarchy. UNDENIABLE is the first book in The Serendipity Duet, a spin-off of The
King Series.
Do you have a favorite character?
Rafe has been one of my favorite
characters since he strolled into BREATHLESS. He’s complicated and conflicted,
but not in an angsty-way—Rafe is kind of in-your-face. I love that even though
he’s terminally sexy and little bit of a bad boy, he’s also a gentleman and he
loves his grandmother.
Have you ever had a minor character evolve into a major one? Did that
change the direction of the novel at all?
Uh, yes. Rafe was not meant to go
beyond one or two books, and now he has his own book. Same with Nell, whose
story will be told in UNQUENCHABLE.
And it also happened with two characters in my NA contemporary romance,
Best Served Cold. Clearly writing a stand-alone novel is not something I can
do.
What is your writing process? Do you listen to music or do you like
silence?
Silence is a rarity in my world,
and honestly, it makes me nervous. Sometimes I have music, either just around
me or via earbuds, and sometimes I have the television on, just as background
noise. My process is just to sit down and write, as much as I can, as often as
I can.
Do you outline your story or just go where your muse takes you?
When I begin a book, I jot down
notes, including character names and any pertinent info. I do a rough synopsis.
But more often than not, things change a little as I go along.
Do you find it difficult to juggle your time between marketing your
current book and writing your next book?
Absolutely. I usually go directly
from writing into marketing and writing the next book. There’s no break, or not
a long one, anyway. I try to balance it so I can do both.
What advice would you give a new author just entering into the
self-publishing arena?
Don’t be afraid to find a few
seasoned authors and ask questions, and as you do, be open to their advice. Be
gracious at all times, whether you are the one needing help or the one giving
it. And always pay it back by helping those coming up behind you, once you’re
the one in the know. Also, start your social media as early as possible, make
connections and form relationships.
Besides writing, do you have any other passions?
I love to talk about the
publishing process and the importance of marketing and branding. I enjoy
traveling. . .and I’m a homeschooler, so I can go on for hours about that
topic, too.
What kinds of marketing [twitter, facebook, blog, forums] are you
involved with for promoting your book(s)?
I have a website, I’m active on
Facebook and Twitter. . .I am on Google+ and Tumblr, too. I also have a
newsletter for my fans, where they can receive updates and special previews
ahead of the rest of the world.
What’s next for you?
I’m already knee-deep in
UNQUENCHABLE, The Serendipity Duet Book Two. After that, I’ll be working on
JUST DESSERTS, the second book in The Perfect Dish Duo (sequel to BEST SERVED COLD).
And then I hope to delve into the Recipe for Death series, an adult paramystery
series. . .and then at least one more book in the Crystal Cove series. 2014 is
going to be quite busy.

If you read The King Series and fell in love with Rafe Brooks, the bad boy who tried to steal Tasmyn's heart. . .here's the story you've been waiting to read. What happened after graduation? How did Rafe get over Tasmyn?
**********************
For Rafe Brooks, running from a broken heart means losing himself in alcohol and women. Lots of women, none of whom will remember him, since he has the ability to manipulate their minds and make them forget.
Numbing the pain works until he meets an irresistible redhead with secrets of her own. She offers him the opportunity to join forces with an organization that will use his powers for good rather than his own amusement.
Jocelyn rocks his world with her unapologetic passion and makes him believe for the first time he just might survive heartbreak.
When a mission takes the two of them undercover to infiltrate a commune with suspicious activity, they discover it's just the tip of a plot to cause world-wide anarchy. Hiding their extraordinary powers and real identities is crucial to staying alive.
For Rafe and Jocelyn, when life is uncertain, love is undeniable.
