Ian McAllister, the Duke of Dorcester, never intended to marry, but when an indiscretion at masked balls has him caught kissing innocent Lady Sara, he has no choice but to offer for her. He offers her the one thing she truly wants and she accepts knowing that she will have the use of her dowry to continue to study her butterflies. What started out as a business deal starts to turn into something more. Could these two very different people find love in each other's arms?
I'm a fan of Ms. Miller and I loved that Sara was a bit odd, but not irritatingly so. Her intelligence and dedication to the study of butterflies were actually quite informative and I enjoyed how she won over Ian's wards with her pranks and attention. The author does a good job of teasing out Ian's backstory and why he is so driven by obtaining more wealth. Most of the story moves along well and the major conflict only comes at the end when Isabelle, Ian's former fiancee, shows up to wreak havoc on his life with Sara. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read and I'm look forward to reading the next story in the series.
I voluntarily read the advanced reader copy and all opinions are my own.
