Entitled for his bravery, Richard balances duty and love in order to make Lady Helena his bride. The Marquis Takes a Bride is a gem of a Regency romance from start to finish. This is book two in this series. I met both Richard and Lady Helena in book one. I was looking forward to this story and it didn’t disappoint. The romance between these two is fraught with uncertainty and misunderstandings. The characters are vibrant and expressive. The writing is sophisticated and historically accurate. The Marquis Takes a Bride is a delight for any Regency reader.

I always enjoy reading Debra Elizabeth’s books. She injects historical detail and accuracy for the era while making sure to balance it with emotion. In The Marquis Takes a Bride, the emotional turmoil is high for Richard. He’s adjusting to being a marquis and all the rules of the gentry. There’s a nice balance of tension, action, and romance throughout this story.

He’s called the Beast of Bath. She’s a fierce bluestocking. Can she tame the bitter and angry soldier and forge a loving path forward for them both?

With his face ruined by the swipe of a French soldier's sword, Jonathan Lyle, the Earl of Hartley, retreats from Society. He cannot tolerate the pity in people’s eyes when they look at him. He was once the darling of the ton, and now he's called the Beast of Bath. When a young woman trespasses on his land, and his horse nearly tramples her, she brilliantly scolds him. Now he can’t seem to forget the feisty miss who doesn’t cower before him.

Miss Harriet Davies is spending the summer in Bath with her grandmother. When she's nearly trampled by Jonathan’s massive stallion, she scolds him for being so careless. She’s taken aback by his gruffness and lack of apology, but there's something about the man that intrigues her, and she makes it her mission to help him regain his dignity and enjoy life once again. Will Harriet be able to help the Beast of Bath open his heart and find true love?

The Beast of Bath meets his match in an unflinching spirited beauty. Enticing the Earl is a heart wrenching Regency romance I couldn’t put down. The premise touched me deeply. The meet cute will capture your heart. The characters drive the story and had me in tears one minute and grinning the next. A great story with intricate historical accuracy, Enticing the Earl is a Regency romance worth reading and can be read as a standalone.

Debra Elizabeth delivers another sweet winner in the third installment of her 'Unlikely Lords' series. (Looks like there might be one more coming...) The author has a simplistic style of writing that may not appeal to all readers, but again I was transported by her ability to move a story along without dragging things out. The Earl (Jon) was severely wounded during the war by a saber to his face. Jon also has PTSD from the battle where he was scarred. I don't usually like this particular trope, but Debra makes it work. The heroine, Harriet, happens to be the younger sister of Mercy from the first book in the series, 'Wolf in Duke's Clothing'. From the beginning Harriet calls Jon her avenging angel, seeing strength in his scar, and ends up falling hard for him. However, Jon has more to overcome than just his scarred face. I love the determination he shows. At one point, Mercy says to Harriet, " must let things play out in its own good time. You cannot force someone to love you." Great story, great characters! I recommend this series to everyone.

Two lost souls. An unimaginable tragedy. To forge a future together, they’ll have to defy both family and Society.

Lord George Spenser, third son of the Marquis of Hutchinson, served his King and country during the Napoleonic wars. He returned home, hoping to enjoy the Season without any pressure to marry. However, when he meets Miss Lydia Weston, the daughter of a wealthy merchant, he's enthralled with the brainy beauty.

Miss Lydia Weston, the daughter of a textile merchant, had no hopes for a successful Season until her friend introduced her to Lord Spenser. From the moment they met, there was an inexplicable spark that ignited between them.

When passion and tragedy collide, George and Lydia must find a way to overcome Society’s rules and family’s objections or be torn apart forever.

"As a fan of the incredible Jane Austen ... this novella was a real treat for me to read. The author does a wonderful job with descriptions, such as when she describes Emily's first ball as a kaleidoscope of colors as the couples dance the night away."

"Love by Secrets is a sweet, bite-size love story. ... I really liked the time period the book was set in. It reminded me of Pride & Prejudice in that regard."

"The story was captivating, truly well-written.....Overall, Love by Secrets was an enjoyable, quick read. The author did a good job in conveying all the right elements of a sweet historical romance and I look forward to continuing the series, as well as read her other works. I recommend giving this one a try.

Reviewer’s comments:

"I loved the murder-mystery flair that seemed present and the deliciously tense undertone of the spy network. These points gave lots of flavor to the budding romance and caused lots of conflict well so we ended up with a really meaty story"

"A very well-written book, I highly recommend it for those who love a witty, fast-paced Regency romance."

Miss Amelia Beckwith should be over the moon with happiness when the Earl of Lincoln proposes. Unfortunately, the handsome earl is not who he appears to be in public.  She is desperate to escape Lincoln’s cruelty and has only one option left to leave the nightmare behind—RUN.
