Seasons Within is the
first of a 5 book YA fantasy series. It is about G, a teenage girl who just learned
her real name and that she comes from a place where people can
wield one of the four elements making her the only one who can wield, destroy
or create all four of them. G is supposed to learn her
gifts in order to defeat a man that almost destroyed her world. She’s intrigued
by a man she shouldn’t be talking to and she’s in love with a man who sees her
as his job.
SW is a new world full of
adventure, epic battles, suspense, friends, romance, nature, beasts and quirky
humor.
Have you
ever had a minor character evolve into a major one? Did that change the
direction of the novel at all?
I have one right now! I wrote a minor character just so I
could kill it (for plot reasons) but no matter how hard I tried, it never died!
Funny thing is that now, that immortal character is my favorite one to write.
How long
before you got your offer of representation/your first contract? Was it for
your first novel?
Very much sooner than I expected.
What
factors influenced your decision to go with a particular agent or publisher?
With Acorn Publishing I was able to keep my rights and
decide everything from the cover to the way I wanted to handle any of the book’s
decisions. Since I own everything in my book, it gives me the opportunity to be
free to sign the rights for different languages to other publishers.
Do you
outline your story or just go where your muse takes you?
I’m a major planer. I have a huge binder with all the
planning, ideas, outlines, characters and everything for all of the five books.
I plan everything and everyone ahead because if I know where my characters end
up, it becomes easier for me to know how to get them there.
Did you
hire an editor to review your manuscript before publishing?
Yes, her name is Shelly Stinchcomb and she’s awesome. (you
can find her on Reedsy, best website any writer, editor, publisher or designer
can find)
What kinds
of marketing [twitter, facebook, blog, forums] are you involved with for
promoting your book(s)?
I have my Facebook page, my website, goodreads and twitter,
although I must say…. I’m the worst at twitter in history. No, seriously… the
worst.
Besides
writing, do you have any other passions?
I love cooking! (hate doing dishes), rock climbing, love
crossing stuff off my bucket list, reading and hanging around with my loved
ones.
Some fun
facts about you, which do you prefer – dogs or cats? Chocolate or vanilla?
Coffee or Tea? Talk or Text? Day or Night?
Dogs! I adore chocolate, I drink industrial amounts of
coffee, I prefer talking but texting allows me to concentrate on different things
and I love the night! After all, night is the day of writers.
What’s
next for you?
I’m finishing SW’s sequel, SPRING. This book will have some
secrets revealed, more romance, lots of humor, new elements, dangerous games,
hard choices, the first glace at Terra and a betrayal with chilling
consequences.

Most teenage girls know their name, where they came from, who they are. Not G, a beautiful redhead with unusual markings on her wrist. She gets her name from a silver locket she keeps around her neck, unaware the engraved letter “G” on its front holds the secret to her past.
G’s life before the age of six has been a mystery to her. Each night for the last twelve years she’s been haunted by the same nightmare—a war. Horrendous beasts, warriors able to wield the four elements, and a boy who saves her by means of blue fire taunt her memory. But on her eighteenth birthday, G’s life begins to unravel. When she meets her new Chemistry professor, a man with an uncanny resemblance to the boy who saves her, she knows there must be more to her dreams.
It’s dangerous not knowing who you are, what you’re capable of, and what future awaits you. Especially when the darkness that slaughtered your entire world, just found you.
