When I agreed to review this book, I didn't realize it was book 2 in the series. Book 2 jumps right into the action where book 1 leaves off so I was lost at the beginning of the book, not knowing who the characters were or what had happened before. Once I got past the first few chapters, the story was engaging. Aurora is a young woman with a lot to learn about controlling her magical powers and I would have benefited from reading book 1 to understand them better. Once she arrives at the fae court, things got a lot more interesting. I did love Tristan, that sexy and arrogant fae warrior. He is a fearless warrior who is not happy he's been ordered to train Aurora.
The High Fae Court was full of intrigue and betrayal. Aurora learns how to control her powers and suffers from slights and insults as many of the fae are not happy she is there. This is where the book really took off for me. There was plenty of action and magic and the last part of the book flew by. As with any trilogy, one mystery was solved, but there is a lot that was left unresolved. Readers will have to wait for the final book in the series to learn what happens to Aurora, Tristan, Rafe and the rest of the kingdom. I'm looking forward finding out what happens.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
