This is
the first book I've read by Ms. Temple and while the book was well-written, I
would say the writing is quite dense. There's so much inner dialogue in each
paragraph that I found myself skipping much of it. While I very much liked Nell,
there was really no explanation as to why her father ignores her or why her
aunt was so nasty. A little more information about the "cinderella"
childhood Nell suffered would have gone a long way to making her a much more
sympathetic character.
Gabriel Hunter is a complicated character and suffers immense guilt over his brother's death. I loved the witty banter between Nell and him. Some of it was quite funny. All in all, this was an enjoyable book, but for me, there's too many issues for me to rate it higher.

I received
a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
