I was not
sure what to expect with this book and it started out great with the tale of
local policeman Goliath rescuing little Mirror from her deranged grandfather.
Mirror's two sisters were not so lucky and their death affected Mirror more
than she could ever understand. I really enjoyed the author's voice especially
when she focused on the relationship of Mirror and Goliath, but then the book
started to divert into many little vignettes that on the surface had nothing to
do with Mirror. All of the stories had elements of bizarre behavior, outrageous
animals and a darkness that no child should have to endure.
I applaud
the author's imagination and the bizarre characters certainly came alive on the
page. The writing was unique, entertaining and confusing at the same time, but
with so many side plots, it was easy to lose sight of Mirror and Goliath.
I received
a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
